Through Rosé Tinted Spectacles

The first big review of our newly released NV Sparkling Rosé was eagerly awaited at Nocton Vineyard and it doesn’t come much bigger than Tyson Stelzer’s Australian Sparkling Wine Report.  Thanks Tyson; not only for a very kind review, but for your incredible support of Tasmanian wine in general.

Team Nocton Star-Of-The-Season

We have an amazing and loyal group of people at Nocton Vineyard who have to cope with anything the season throws at them: drought, snow, tractor breakdowns, recalcitrant sheep, changes of plan and of course the occasional ostrich! It seems only right then to introduce one or two of them along the way. Up first, the inaugural team Nocton star-of-the-season is…(drum roll…)

New Releases

The Nocton Vineyard NV Sparkling launch at last year’s Taste of Tasmania was a project we had been working on for a couple of years. In many ways, non-vintage bubbles can be more rewarding to make and to drink than single vintage wines as many years can be blended together to provide complexity and a consistent style. It has certainly gone off with a bang with its bold orange label combined with show success (see “News and Events”) and a terrific review by Australia’s King of Fizz,

In the Vineyard

As I write this I am conscious that another year is already halway through. While nothing will ever be perfect (of course,) I have to admit that the vines have never looked better or healthier. The reserve blocks in particular have responded fantastically well to only laying down one cane as opposed to the Estate blocks which have a cane on either side.

Last winter, Matt spent some time establishing our own vine nursery which is now paying dividends.

News and events

So much has happened that it might take a while to catch up. So here are a few things in no particular order…

WINE TASTINGS

Last November, we opened our cellar door for free tastings, glass of wine on the deck, bottle sales or just a chat. Open from Wed-Sat 10am-4pm, we celebrated by putting up a new sign at the gate. If you are in the area, please call in to see us at 373 Colebrook Rd,

GM’s Intro

A huge welcome from all of us at team Nocton to our very first newsletter. Four times a year, someone will chain me to my computer, top up my glass and refuse to let me go until we have given you all the goings-on and gossip, all the news, views and booze-related shenanigans that is the normal life on a vineyard in southern Tasmania.

For those of you who have been following us closely over the past 2 years,
